Friends of Mosquito Hill Mission
Friends of Mosquito Hill, Inc. (FOMH) is a non-profit organization that supports, promotes, and enhances Mosquito Hill Nature Center. Their mission is realized through volunteerism, fundraising, and a shared passion for nature.
About Friends of Mosquito Hill
Founded as Outagamie Nature Studies in 1984, the organization originally provided volunteer-led nature-study field trips for 4th graders throughout the Appleton School District.
Following the 1974 opening of Mosquito Hill Nature Center at its present site in New London, and hiring the first naturalist, the FOMH board dove head-long into promoting memberships, training trail guides (now known as volunteer naturalists), and supporting new initiatives, including property acquisition, building improvements and remodeling, and in 2001, spearheading a Capital Campaign that resulted in a new addition that tripled the size of the existing building.
Today, the board continues to support the volunteer program, raises funds through memberships, grants and charitable giving, and planning improvements to the indoor exhibits and outdoor playscape.
