The WIC Program’s professional nutrition staff provides the following services, all at no cost:

1. Supplemental Food Benefits

2. Nutrition Assessment and Education

3. Breastfeeding Promotion, Education and Support

4. Referrals to Health and Social services

What food does WIC provide?

Fruits and Vegetables (fresh, frozen or canned)

100% Juice

Whole wheat/whole grain foods such as 100% whole wheat bread, brown rice, soft corn or whole wheat tortillas

Beans, peas, lentils (canned or dried)

Peanut butter

Canned fish (light tuna or pink salmon)

Milk, eggs and cheese

Infant cereals

What are the criteria for enrolling?

  • Live within the WIC project area to which you apply
  • Be an eligible woman or child
  • Be income eligible
  • Have an identifiable health risk (e.g., high weight for height) or a nutrition risk (e.g., dietary pattern is low in fruits and vegetables), which is determined at the certification appointment
