Why Your Support is Important
Mosquito Hill Nature Center has been educating people of all ages and providing a place to learn, recreate and relax since 1974. Our success is due to you. When you sign up for a class, bring your students on a field trip, purchase an item from our gift shop, or make a gift to Friends of Mosquito Hill, you are not just supporting a local non-profit organization. You are ensuring that MHNC remains a place where people can come to recharge, engage with the natural world, and be inspired.
You’re helping us to take better care of the natural world, so that it can continue to sustain us all into the future.
"Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant."
Robert Louis Stevenson

Ask Your Employer to Match Your Gift
The Power of a Matching Gift
Chris Worzalla, FOMH Past-President
All contributions to Friends of Mosquito Hill provide important support dollars for the wide variety of programs supported by the organization. Through the years FOMH has helped to enable a significant number of improvements to the facilities, programs and support for a part time volunteer coordinator.
Does your employer offer a matching gift program? Companies such as Thrivent, Bemis, Kimberly-Clark and Miller Electric, just to name a few, all have matching gift programs. Typically there are a few requirements for the donation to qualify for a match. Usually the donation needs to be made to an organization with a 501c(3) status, which FOMH has, and designates the group as a non-profit organization. Some companies also require a minimum donation.
Eighteen years ago, I lost my first wife and I was able to leverage the matching gift program at my company to establish an endowed memorial scholarship at Michigan Tech. (our alma mater and where we met)! It has been very rewarding and a great way to preserve her memory to see a new student awarded her scholarship every year. Without the power of the matching gift, I would not have been able to contribute enough to reach the endowment level.
The Calmes family was able to take advantage of an employer’s triple-match program to fund an exhibit renovation project at Mosquito Hill in memory of their son Brock, who passed away in 2012.
If you have made a recent contribution or plan to make one before the end of the year, please take a moment to check with your employer about a matching gift and take the steps needed to ensure your gift is matched. It’s an easy way to double, or in some cases, triple your generosity.

Shop with Amazon Smile
For each purchase that you make via Amazon Smile, Amazon will donate a small percentage of the purchase price to the charitable organization of your choice. Here is how it works. Log on to www.smile.amazon.com. This step is important. If you log on to Amazon.com, your purchase doesn’t count. From there, you can enter your existing password and select Friends of Mosquito Hill as your designated charitable organization. Then make your purchase.
Purchase an Engraved Brick
The Blaze a Trail fundraiser was initiated to construct the All People's Trail, an accessible, paved trail for people who use wheelchairs or need a level walking surface. You may still purchase a personalized engraved brick in memory of, or to honor, an individual, family or organization. Print this order form and mail to FOMH with your payment.
