Outagamie County last completed a full update of its Comprehensive Plan in spring of 2008. The 2008 plan was prepared in accordance with section 66.1001 Wis. Stats, which requires all local units of government in Wisconsin to prepare and adopt a Comprehensive Plan and ensure certain legislative land use decisions made by the county are done in a manner that is consistent with the plan. Since the plan's adoption in 2008, minor amendments have occurred with regards to the future land use map, along with the incorporation of several significant appendices to the plan, including the County Farmland Preservation Plan.
In the 10 years since the last plan was adopted, the county has experienced significant changes in demographics and development patterns, warranting a full update to the plan. The new plan will be developed in a participatory format, and is intended to be a user friendly, forward looking, and strategic document. The plan will be used to guide future land use decisions within the county, and serve as a guidepost for making future county policies and decisions related to various elements of the plan.
