Outagamie County opened its solid waste transfer station in March 2005. It is being used to transfer solid waste to Winnebago County landfill, handles 600 to 700 tons per day of residential, commercial, industrial and construction waste.

The building is 19,600 square feet in size and is located on the same 450 acre site as the Material Recycling Facility (MRF) and landfill.  This building is used to haul waste to another landfill when Outagamie County does not have an operating landfill.

The building is constructed with two floor levels.  Incoming trucks unload on the upper level or tipping floor.  Semi-truck transfer trailers park in two loading docks comprising the lower level.  Two front end loaders, operated by the County, are used to move waste from the tipping floor to transfer trailers.
