County Highway Project Updates as of 3/13/2014

CB/BB

CTH CB (CTH BB to Spencer Street) & CTH BB at CTH CB

Towns of Greenville, Grand Chute, and Winnebago County - Town of Menesha.

Project Description

This project is for construction of pavement widening and traffic signal upgrades to the intersection of CTH CB & CTH BB and to improve the existing asphaltic surface by installing a new asphalt overlay.

Project Status

Scheduled for the 2014 construction season.

Traffic Impacts

Both highways will remain open to traffic, but will have lane closures with flaggers.

More Information

The intersection has been experiencing a high rate of crashes for several years. Additional lanes will be added to provide safer sight lines for turning traffic, and provide a better level of service through the intersection. This project includes a cost share with Winnebago County. See the Capital Improvement Program, pages 45 & 46.

CTH CE at CTH N

Town of Buchanan

Project Description

Erosion is exposing underground utilities, undermining a culvert end wall, and threatening stability of the highway ramp. The project will realign Garners creek, re-grade and stabilize the slope failure, install riprap protection.

Project Status

Scheduled for the 2014 construction season.

Traffic Impacts

Highway will remain open with shoulder closures only.

DD

CTH DD (USH 45 to CTH D)

City of New London & Town of Maple Creek

Project Description

Project will reclaim existing pavement and install new asphalt pavement.

Project Status

Scheduled for the 2014 construction season.

Traffic Impacts

The highway will remain open to traffic with lane closures and flaggers. Motorists should expect delays and loose gravel.

CTH G (STH 55 to CTH Y)

City of Seymour & Towns of Osborn & Oneida

Project Description

The proposed project is to improve the existing asphaltic surface by milling the pavement and installing a new asphalt overlay from STH 55 to Mainline Drive. From Mainline Dr to CTH Y, the project will reclaim and install new asphalt pavement. The City of Seymour will be urbanizing the segment between Mainline Dr and Independence Dr by installing curb, gutter, and storm sewer prior to paving.

Project Status

Scheduled for the 2014 construction season.

Traffic Impacts

The road will be closed to thru traffic with a detour posted using STH 55, STH 54, and CTH Y.

CTH GV (Silver Spring Rd to CTH CB)

Towns of Grand Chute & Greenville

Project Description

The proposed project is to improve the existing asphaltic surface by milling the asphalt, rubblizing the underlying concrete, and installing a new asphalt pavement with 4' paved shoulders.

Project Status

Scheduled for the 2014 construction season.

Traffic Impacts

The road will be closed to thru traffic with a detour posted using STH 96 and CTH CB.

CTH N (Buchanan Rd to E 3rd St)

Village of Kimberly and Town of Buchanan

Project Description

The proposed project is to improve the existing asphaltic surface by profile milling and installing a new asphalt overlay for this segment of urban highway. Improvements are also proposed at the Kennedy Ave intersection.

Project Status

Scheduled for the 2014 construction season.

Traffic Impacts

Road will remain open to traffic with lane closures and flaggers. Expect delays.

CTH N (CTH OO to Maple St)

Village of Little of Chute

Project Description

The proposed project is to improve the existing asphaltic surface by installing a new asphalt overlay for this segment. From CTH OO to Elm St, the pavement markings will be reconfigured from four thru lanes to two thru lanes with a two-way-left-turn lane to improve traffic flow and safety.

Scheduled for the 2014 construction season.

Road will remain open to traffic with lane closures and flaggers. Expect delays.

S

CTH S (STH 76 to Kelly Rd)

Town of Ellington

Project Description

The proposed project is to reconstruct the rural highway to meet current design standards, including 4-ft paved shoulders and flatter ditch slopes. Horizontal curves will be reconstructed to meet 55 mph travel speeds.

Project Status

Utility relocation work has started. Crews are removing trees in preparation of construction. Major construction is scheduled for the 2014 construction season.

Traffic Impacts

During tree removal and utility work, there will be occasional lane closures with flaggers. Expect delays. Once major construction starts, the road will be closed to thru traffic with a detour posted using STH 76, CTH A, STH 47, CTH A.

More Information

The existing roadway experiences a tremendous amount of heavy truck traffic resulting in expedited deterioration. The existing roadway does not meet current design standards and will be reconstructed to meet current standards for safety. See the Capital Improvement Program, page 72.

CTH T (STH 96 to STH 15)

Town of Dale

Project Description

The proposed project is to improve the existing asphaltic surface by making spot base repairs and installing a new asphalt overlay for this segment of highway.

Project Status

Scheduled for the 2014 construction season.

Traffic Impacts

Road will remain open to traffic with lane closures and flaggers. Expect delays.
